Opportunity:

RN MS/TELE - Transplant and Hepatology Unit

Job Details:

* Rotating shifts with various days of the week including weekends per unit needs
* No on-call required
* Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days and nights; transplant patients staffed at 2:1 or 3:1 ratios during acute phases; candidates must be comfortable working in environments with flexible staffing ratios
* Float within scope to meet facility needs and may float to sister facilities in the Metro region based on facility needs
* Care for high-acuity solid organ transplant, thoracic surgery, and hepatology patient populations
* Work with patient diagnoses including ESRD, ESLD, thoracic cancers, lung diseases, organ rejection, alcohol use disorders, liver and renal cancers, and general medical diagnoses
* Utilize Epic charting system (preferred)
* Required certifications: AHA BLS, CPI
* Colorado or Compact RN license required; BSN preferred
* Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in a high-acuity unit required
* First-time travelers accepted
* Scrub color: Navy
* Required skills include but are not limited to: blood product administration, central line blood draw, chest tube management, telemetry monitoring, PICC line management, wound care/wound vac, pre/post thoracic surgery care, tracheostomy care, IV insulin protocols, and management of dysrhythmias
* Special equipment used includes chest and abdominal drains, chest tubes, wound vacs, central lines, BiPAP/CPAP, telemetry, and capnography
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
* Patient age groups include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
* 6 weekend shifts required per contract

Facility:

This facility is home to a nationally recognized 36-bed surgical unit specializing in the highly acute care of solid organ transplant, thoracic surgery, and hepatology patient populations. The transplant program is the only one in the Rocky Mountain region that performs all solid organ transplants, including lung, liver, kidney, and pancreas recipients, as well as liver and kidney donors. The facility is historically distinguished as the site of the world's first successful human liver transplant in 1967 and continues to lead in innovation and excellence. The thoracic surgery program is rated among the top programs in the nation, performing cutting-edge procedures such as lobectomies, wedge resections, lung surgeries, and esophagectomies. The unit works closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver optimal care throughout each patient's continuum of care.
