Job Details:

* Work 12-hour shifts from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM
* Weekend and holiday requirements vary based on department needs
* Float to OBS unit and Freestanding Creighton ER at least once a week
* Orientation includes 1 week of onboarding, 2 shifts at Bergan, and 1 shift at UC
* Must pass an open book exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation or contract will be terminated
* Level I Trauma Center with 20 beds, 5 trauma bays, 10 OBS beds, and hallway beds
* Fast Track area with 6 beds and 3 dedicated triage beds available
* Patient ratios: 1:4 in zones, 1:6 in Fast Track, 1:5 in OBS, 1:1 ICU/Trauma
* Common diagnoses include trauma, sepsis, chest pain, shortness of breath, and strokes including TPA administration
* Administer all common drips seen in Level I trauma emergency rooms
* Must read and interpret cardiac monitor strips independently
* Charting system: EPIC
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC (NRP Preferred)
* Recent Level I or Level II Trauma experience required
* BSN not required
* Valid driver's license required at submittal
* Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
* Must reside more than 50 miles from facility

Facility:

This facility is a fast-paced, high-acuity Level I Trauma Center that is also Pediatric Certified by the State and designated as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. The emergency department is supported by in-house security available 24/7, a dedicated charge nurse on every shift, and a team that includes physicians, mid-level providers, nurse aides, EMTs, paramedics, and patient sitters. The facility utilizes EPIC as its charting system and provides a dynamic work environment for experienced emergency room nurses.
