Job Details:
* 12-hour evening shifts with variable start times
* Weekend coverage required with 4 weekend shifts per biweekly period
* Patient ratio of 4:1 for days, nights, and weekends
* Daily census of 40 patients with 40 visits per day
* Float to other UCSF facilities required within a 75+ mile radius
* Must have experience working at a fast-paced, inner-city hospital
* Prior travel experience within 12 months required
* Prior teaching hospital experience preferred
* 2 years of emergency department experience required
* Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
* Community hospital experience preferred
* Epic charting system experience required; Cerner proficiency preferred
* BSN required
* Patient age groups include adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
* Required skills include BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, chest tube insertion and management, emergency medications, interpretation of arterial blood gases, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, intubation, isolation precautions and PPE, obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG, phlebotomy, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, starting and maintaining IVs, and triage
* Common patient diagnoses include stroke, STEMI, cardiac and respiratory arrest, DKA, abdominal pain, and orthopedic issues
* Interdisciplinary support available including respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and unit secretary
* Required certifications: CA RN License, AHA BLS, PALS, ACLS, TNCC
* Preferred certification: CEN

This facility is a fast-paced, inner-city hospital and part of a large academic health system offering comprehensive emergency department services. The emergency department features 9 rooms and 16 beds, serving a diverse patient population across all age groups. The unit is supported by a robust interdisciplinary team including respiratory services, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams, ensuring high-quality care in a dynamic environment.
