Opportunity:

RN - PCU

Job Details:

* Float pool position - will not be assigned a home unit and will float between approximately 5 units across all Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments and other metro campuses as needed
* Patient ratio of 1:6
* 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period, any combination of Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
* Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
* No on-call required
* Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks
* 1 to 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
* Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
* Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS; ACLS preferred
* Previous charge experience preferred
* Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
* Charting system: Epic
* Work settings include MS/Tele, Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown
* Required skills include cardiac monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, and use of rapid response teams
* Cardiovascular skills required: Post MI care and Pre/Post Cardiac Cath
* Endocrine/Metabolic skills required: IV insulin protocols
* Gastrointestinal skills required: Feeding tube care and management
* Genitourinary/Renal skills required: Continuous bladder irrigation, Pre/Post hemodialysis management, and renal failure management
* IV therapy/Phlebotomy skills required: Accessing ports, blood product administration, central line care and management, phlebotomy, peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, and starting IVs
* Medication management skills required: Heparin protocols, managing cardiac drips without titration, and PCA
* Respiratory skills required: Chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), interpretation of ABGs, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tank, non-invasive airway management, and tracheostomy management
* Additional skills required: Isolation precautions, wound care, and wound vac
* Patient population includes adults with diagnoses such as heart failure, myocardial infarction, stroke, COPD, pulmonary embolisms, bacteremia, cellulitis, hematuria, seizures, and alcohol withdrawal
* Missouri or Compact nursing license required
* Maximum of 7 days of requested time off; all RTO must be finalized at time of submission

The facility offers strong interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, rapid response teams, and pharmacy. The organization maintains high standards of patient care across its Med/Surg and Intermediate Care units, utilizing Epic for charting and communication.
