Opportunity:

Medical Surgical / Registered Nurse

Job Details:

* Day shift position with 36 or 48 hours per week available
* Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Surgical experience required, strictly enforced
* Level I Trauma experience required
* Large hospital experience required
* Prior travel experience required
* First-time travelers not accepted unless candidate has 5+ years of experience in the specialty
* Patient ratio of 1:12 utilizing team nursing model, equating to approximately 1:6 or 1:7 per RN when splitting caseload between 2 RNs, LPN, and Med Nurse
* Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
* 45-bed floor with primary surgical oncology patients, medical oncology overflow, and medical-surgical overflow
* Patients frequently present with central lines including PAC, PICC lines, and midlines
* Procedures include wound care, drains, ostomies, Foley catheters, and PCA pumps
* Chemotherapy administration available for ONS-certified nurses only
* Limited phlebotomy coverage at night
* Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
* On-call required as needed
* Weekend coverage required as needed
* Block scheduling not available; weekend block may be considered and must be discussed during interview
* Must reside at least 100 miles from the facility; local travelers not accepted
* All requested time off must be submitted at time of submission; RTO submitted after offer will not be honored
* If assignment includes end-of-year holidays and all three major holidays fall within the assignment, traveler must be willing to work 2 of the 3 holidays; if only 2 holidays fall during the assignment, traveler must work at least 1
* RNs may be floated between like units and campuses within a 20-mile radius
* Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
* Required skills: IV start; chemotherapy administration and conscious sedation experience noted
* EPIC experience preferred
* Active RN license in the state or compact RN license compliant with NLC guidelines required
* Pending licenses not accepted; all travelers must be in compliance with NLC guidelines
