Opportunity:

RN - CVICU

Job Details:

* Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
* Patient ratio of 2:1 for days, nights, and weekends
* 6 weekend shifts per contract
* Will be expected to work 3 out of 5 winter holidays
* Self-scheduling
* May float within hospital or to an affiliate hospital nearby
* Care for patient age groups including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
* 44-bed unit with a daily census of 44
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* CCRN preferred
* Required skills: Arterial line management, care of ventilated patient, central line care/management, continuous IV sedation, interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring, titrating cardiac drips, and ventilator management
* ECMO experience preferred; ECMO, LVAD, IABP, and EKOS procedures performed on unit
* Patient diagnoses include heart and lung transplant, CABG, STEMI, NSTEMI, ARDS, heart failure, vascular, esophagectomy, and VATS
* Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
* Compact or Kentucky state license required

Facility:

This large academic medical center operates a 44-bed cardiovascular intensive care unit providing highly specialized care for complex cardiac and surgical patients. The facility supports advanced procedures including ECMO, LVAD, IABP, and EKOS, and is staffed by a robust interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, rapid response teams, and pharmacy. The unit manages a wide range of critical diagnoses and maintains a consistent 2:1 patient-to-nurse ratio to support high-quality patient outcomes.
