RN - PCU/Intermediate Care
Job Details:
* Day shift hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or night shift hours from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Every other weekend rotation required
* May be placed on low census call back
* Patient ratios of 1:3-4 for RN and 1:6-12 for tech on both days and nights
* Minimum 1 year of intermediate/PCU level of care experience required; if Med/Surg experience only with some PCU, minimum 2 years required
* Must have completed at least 2 thirteen-week travel assignments
* Must have trauma experience, experience with stroke patients, and ability to perform Q2H neuro checks
* Must have insulin and cardiac drip experience (travelers without this experience will not be considered)
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
* Preferred certifications: AACCN, CCRN
* Charge nurse experience should be noted in submission
* Care for Level II Trauma, Neuro, Medical/Surgical, and Cardiac patient types
* Neuro patients include strokes, stable craniotomies (coils or clips), CIWA, and seizure precautions
* Medical/Surgical patients include respiratory illnesses, long-term trachs with vents, respiratory failure requiring BiPAP or high flow O2, COPD exacerbation, post-op general surgery, sepsis, IVDA, and thyroid storm
* Cardiac patients include STEMI, NSTEMI, CHF, AFib with RVR, post cardiac cath, post ablation, and 24-hour post-op TAVR
* Skills required include high flow O2, chest tubes, wound vacs/VAC dressing changes, BiPAP, drain/ostomy care, IV starts, trach care and suctioning, temporary pacemakers, TR bands, post femoral sheath care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and administration of cardiac drips (Amiodarone at set rate, Cardizem) and insulin titration
* Charting system is Cerner (highly preferred); must be sent to manager for approval if not experienced
* Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and GE monitors
* May float to ED, ICU, or CCU if there is an intermediate assignment in one of those departments
* Orientation consists of general hospital orientation followed by 1 day on the unit
* Scrub color: any, must be professional
* Free parking available in designated areas
Facility:
This facility is a Level II Trauma Center and serves as the closest trauma center within a 50-mile radius, supported by air flight transport services. The facility features a 411-bed hospital with a 12-bed intermediate care unit and offers 24/7 support including a resource nurse with ICU training, respiratory therapy, hospitalist coverage, and trauma surgery. Additional support services include CNA assistance, phlebotomy, an IV/VAT team for ultrasound-guided IVs and PICC/midline placement, and physical and occupational therapy Monday through Friday.
