Radiation Therapist

Job Details:

* Work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (5x8 days)
* 36 weekly guaranteed hours
* No weekend requirements
* No on-call requirements
* Provide daily care for cancer patients including accurate interpretation and delivery of radiation treatments
* Perform simulations and provide clinical instruction for radiation therapy students
* Assist during Brachytherapy procedures
* Assist in treatment planning procedures including tumor localization and dosimetry
* Check prescriptions, diagnoses, charts, and patient identification prior to treatment
* Schedule patients and explain pre-treatment and post-treatment procedures
* Prepare room and equipment according to prescription, immobilization devices, field sizes, treatment devices, and lead protection devices
* Take and check images of all treated areas and process and file accordingly
* Maintain visual and audible contact with patients during treatments
* Set up IMRT and 3-D patients properly in CT and make proper immobilization devices for 2-D, 3-D, and IMRT patients
* Document treatment doses accurately and document proper set-up instructions
* Observe radiation safety measures for patients and personnel
* Triage sick patients to nursing for evaluation
* Must wear Caribbean Blue scrubs in accordance with dress code policy
* EMR system: EPIC
* Minimum 2 years of experience required
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA only), ARRT
* Virginia license required (VA Temporary License acceptable with pending VA License)
