Job Details:

* Day shift position in a combined adult and pediatric emergency department
* 15-week contract with a hard start date of 12/14
* Every other weekend required with 4-6 weekend shifts per contract
* No time off permitted during the first two weeks of assignment
* Maximum of 3 days of pre-approved time off; must be willing to work holidays
* Patient ratio of 4:1 for days, nights, and weekends
* 2 years of emergency department experience required
* Travel experience required
* Epic proficiency required; Cerner charting system experience utilized
* Valid California license required at time of submission
* References required with submission; copy of required certifications must be included
* Advanced EKG exam required prior to start: two attempts permitted with a minimum score of 80%; onsite exam consists of 20 questions (17 rhythm strips and 3 general questions) with a 45-minute time limit
* Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC
* Required skills include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care and management, phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, interpretation of ABGs, CVA management, ICP monitoring, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, ortho-trauma, head injury, near drowning, gunshot wounds, traumatic amputation, isolation precautions, and triage
* Facility is STEMI and Stroke certified
* Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and more
* Patient age groups served: neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics

Facility:

This is a high-volume emergency department facility with a daily census of approximately 180 patients and nearly 186 visits per day across 22 rooms and 35 beds. The facility is both STEMI and Stroke certified, offering comprehensive emergency services for a wide range of patient populations from neonates to geriatrics. The department provides robust interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, rapid response teams, and more to ensure high-quality patient care.
