Job Details:

* Minimum 3 years of experience required; travel experience required
* Weekend shifts required, though frequency may vary
* No on-call responsibilities
* Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13-week contract; cancelled shifts must match the regular assigned shift length
* Patient ratio of 8 patients per nurse across days, nights, and weekends
* Average daily census of 60 patients across an 8-bed emergency department
* Staff take working lunches
* Must be willing to float to all community hospital ER units; regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required
* Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
* Maximum of 7 days of requested time off per contract
* Treats patients of all age groups including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
* Manages a wide range of conditions including ACS, CVA/TIA, respiratory conditions, sepsis, diabetes-related emergencies, trauma and injuries, abdominal pain, behavioral health emergencies, neurological complaints, and common medical complaints such as hypertension, dehydration, UTI, and flu
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
* Required skills: obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG, starting and maintaining IVs, and administering emergency medications
* Preferred experience: Epic charting system, community hospital experience, Trauma Level I and Level II experience
* Special equipment used includes lift equipment, iSTAT, Zoll Monitor, Phillips EKG, BiPAP, and ventilator

Facility:

This single-floor community hospital operates an 8-bed emergency department alongside a med-surg and intermediate care unit. The emergency department is staffed with a collaborative team including ED RNs, providers, a charge nurse, paramedics, a radiology technician, and patient access representatives. Interdisciplinary support includes radiology and social services, and the facility is equipped to handle a broad range of emergent and non-emergent patient conditions on a walk-in basis.
