Opportunity:
RN - ICU Float Pool
Job Details:
* 12-hour rotating day and night shifts; schedule is 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* 36-hour work week consisting of three 12-hour shifts
* Schedule is based on operational need and may rotate between day and night shifts each 4-week schedule cycle
* Float pool position - not unit based; must have ability to float to all TCUs and ICUs, ED, and PACU across all UCSF campuses
* Weekend coverage based on operational need
* 24 hours of orientation required
* Patient ratio of 2:1 for days, nights, and weekends; may float to acute care/telemetry/TCU units with up to 3:1 assignment
* Minimum 2.5 years of recent adult medical/surgical critical care RN experience required
* Variety in critical care experience preferred including med/surg, cardiac, and neuro
* Recent float pool, PACU, or emergency room experience preferred
* Teaching hospital experience required
* Travel experience required
* BSN required
* California RN license required
* Required certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS
* Preferred certification: NIHSS
* Epic charting system experience preferred
* Previous charge experience a plus
* Must be comfortable working with adults and geriatric patient populations
* Key skills include arterial line management, care of ventilated patients, central line care and management, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, CVVHD/CRRT, IABP, pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring, ICP monitoring, and management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, rapid response teams, and more
* All requested time off must be submitted at time of offer; no additional requests will be accepted mid-contract and RTO cannot fall within the first two weeks of the start date
* Two references from most recent employer required at time of submission

This is a large academic medical center and teaching hospital with over 600 beds, operating across multiple campuses to serve a broad and diverse patient population. The facility provides comprehensive critical care services including medical, surgical, cardiovascular, neurological, and transplant ICUs, as well as emergency and post-anesthesia care. Robust interdisciplinary support teams are available including pharmacy, respiratory services, physical therapy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
