RN - Psychiatric (Pediatrics/Adults)

Job Details:

* Shifts available: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Every other weekend rotation required
* Expected to work holidays on a rotation basis
* No on-call requirements
* Modified self-scheduling - travelers sign up for preferred shifts, with manager review to ensure coverage; if shifts are not selected during the scheduling window, vacant shifts will be automatically assigned
* First week of orientation runs Monday through Friday; second week transitions to normal shift schedule
* Must be willing to float between adult and pediatric units as needed
* Minimum 1 year of inpatient psychiatric experience required; will consider a mix of psychiatric and acute care pediatric experience or experience working with autistic patients
* First-time travelers accepted
* Primarily care for adolescent and pediatric patients ages 5-18, including voluntary and involuntary admissions
* Common diagnoses include autism, self-mutilation, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, gender dysphoria, and trauma
* Patient ratios: 6 Psych Techs on day shifts; 2 Psych Techs on night shifts
* Must be comfortable with redirection and de-escalation, assisting with ADLs, rounding every 7.5 minutes, acting as a 1:1 sitter, participating in physical holds (least restrictive measures used), and obtaining EKGs as needed
* EMR system: Cerner and Paper documentation
* Unit-specific equipment includes seclusion rooms and chair restraints
* Required certifications: BLS, MOAB (obtained on-site), Maine CNA license
* Scrub color: Any solid color, professional attire
* Free parking available on-site

Facility:

This free-standing acute inpatient psychiatric facility features 94 beds across two units - 50 pediatric beds and 44 adult beds. All patients are medically cleared prior to admission, and it is not typical to have lines, drains, or tubes. The facility is supported by a robust team including a Nurse Practitioner on-site until 4:00 PM and on-call overnight, a Psychiatrist available for daily rounds and on-call from midnight to 6:00 AM, an Occupational Therapist seven days per week, contracted phlebotomists for lab draws, and on-site security. A contracted emergency room is located just five minutes away.
