RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

* 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
* Every other weekend requirement
* Holiday shifts as needed to meet unit needs
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 with CNA, virtual nurse, and charge nurse support available
* CNA ratio of 1:10, availability fluctuates based on unit census
* Charge nurse present on each shift and does not carry a patient assignment
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* Must be able to titrate drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, and Insulin
* Must be able to read and interpret telemetry monitor strips independently
* Experience with BiPAP and Airvo equipment required
* Charting system: EPIC
* BSN not required
* Navy blue scrubs required
* Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas
* Orientation consists of one week of classroom training followed by two 12-hour shifts on the floor
* Pass/fail open book exam required during orientation with a minimum score of 90% required to pass
* May float to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care units
* Common patient diagnoses include sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, stroke, renal failure, COPD, DKA, and complex multisystem conditions in young adult through geriatric populations
* Must maintain a strong sense of teamwork with commitment to bedside reporting and hourly rounding
* Radius rule: candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; driver's license required at submittal
* Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity affiliated facility
* Requested time off must be submitted upfront (7 or fewer days per 13-week contract); additional RTO will not be approved
