Opportunity:

Adult Med Surg

Job Details:

* Mixed unit covering PCU, Med Surg Tele, and Med Surg patients
* Patient ratio of 1:4 on all shifts
* Weekend requirement: every other weekend; Night Shift weekend coverage is Friday and Saturday evenings
* No on-call required
* Floating required within service line and between Toledo, Flower, Bay Park, and Wildwood facilities as needed
* Float units include: Neuro/Stroke, Cardiac, Orthopedic, Trauma, Oncology, General Surgery, Uro/Vascular, and Observation
* Block scheduling not available
* Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required; first-time travelers accepted
* Epic charting experience required
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
* Patient population: adults
* Common patient diagnoses include CHF, COPD, colorectal conditions, GI bleeds/SBO, pneumonia, and cystic fibrosis
* Special procedures include care for bariatric surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, and colorectal surgery patients
* Skills required include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, titration of insulin drips, feeding tube care and management, central line care and management, peripheral line care and management, blood product administration, PICC line management, starting IVs, surgical drain management, nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management, wound care and wound vac, and TPN titration
* Work setting includes telemetry monitoring on the unit
* Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
* Schedules are subject to change with two-weeks notice from the facility
* No block scheduling available across all units

Facility:

This facility is a Level I trauma center and the largest acute care hospital in the Toledo metropolitan area. The unit consists of 39 staffed beds and operates as a mixed unit serving PCU, Med Surg Tele, and Med Surg patients. The facility utilizes Epic for charting and offers free parking. Comprehensive interdisciplinary support services are available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and interpretation services.
