Opportunity:
Radiation Therapist
Job Details:
* Monday through Friday day shift, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (5x8s)
* 36 hours guaranteed per week
* No weekend or on-call requirements
* Provide daily care of cancer patients including accurate interpretation and delivery of radiation treatments in accordance with radiation oncologist prescriptions and instructions
* Perform simulations and provide clinical instruction for radiation therapy students
* Assist during Brachytherapy procedures
* Assist in treatment planning procedures including tumor localization and dosimetry
* Triage sick patients to nursing for evaluation
* Check prescriptions, diagnosis, charts, and patient identification
* Schedule patients and explain pre-treatment and post-treatment procedures
* Prepare room and equipment for patients according to prescription, immobilization devices, field sizes, treatment devices, and lead protection devices
* Take and check images of all treated areas, process and file accordingly
* Maintain visual and audible contact with patients during treatments
* Document treatment doses accurately and check charges daily for accurate billing
* Set up IMRT and 3-D patients properly in CT and make proper immobilization devices for 2-D, 3-D, and IMRT patients
* Document proper set-up instructions and all pertinent information for dosimetry calculations
* Observe radiation safety measures for patients and personnel
* Equipment used: Varian Truebeam and Phillips Big Bore CT Scanner
* EMR system: EPIC
* Scrub color: Caribbean Blue or any solid colors with matching top and bottom
* Required certifications: BLS, ARRT
* Virginia license required; VA Temp License acceptable with a pending VA License
* Minimum 2 years of experience required
