Opportunity:
RN - Step Down Unit
Job Details:
* Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* 13-week contract assignment
* Work in a high acuity step-down/progressive care unit with 19 beds
* Patient ratio of 3:1
* Every other weekend requirement (approximately 4 weekend shifts per month including Saturday and Sunday)
* Delayed start utilized rather than on-call shifts when census is low
* Operate and manage bedside monitors, Alaris IV pumps, heated humidity high flow O2, BiPap, chest tubes, tracheostomy equipment, Kangaroo feeding pumps, gastric tubes, and surgical drains
* Use EPIC electronic medical records system
* Perform physical assessments, intake, and output every 4 hours
* Complete hourly safety rounds
* Perform every two-hour positioning and ADLs as indicated
* Conduct bedside handoff (mandatory)
* Assist with emergent cardioversion procedures
* Float to cardiac surgery IMC, med-tele, med-surg, and ortho-neuro units as needed
* Minimum 1 year of step-down ICU/IMC/PCU experience required
* Minimum 1 year of telemetry/cardiac monitoring experience required
* Preferred experience with trach patients requiring continuous BiPap/long-term vent support
* Preferred experience with titratable drips including dopamine, dobutamine, nitro, Cardene, ketamine, heparin, Cardizem, and amiodarone
* Preferred experience with CIWA assessments and alcohol/drug withdrawal treatment
* Must have a positive, team-focused attitude and ability to adapt to quickly changing acuity in a fast-paced environment
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH-SS
* Must hold a permanent Alaska RN license at time of submission (temporary licensing not accepted)
* Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
