Opportunity:

PCU/Step down Float RN

Job Details:

* 12-hour night shifts, 3 shifts per week from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Float position covering PCU, MS/Tele, and Med Surg units based on institutional needs
* Patient population includes ER boarded patients, telemetry, med surg, and PCU patients
* Nurse to patient ratio varies between 1:4-6 depending on unit acuity
* Patients include adults and geriatric age groups
* May include charge nurse responsibilities on smaller units, including managing staffing needs, bed flow, and general coordination
* Charge nurse experience is required
* Minimum 1 year of experience required; 3 years preferred
* Must have experience working in the US; Canadian experience alone will not qualify
* Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
* Weekend coverage required
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
* Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities nearby the contracted facility
* Charting system: Epic (experience required)
* Required certifications: ACLS, NIHSS
* Required skills include: BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care and management, chest tube management, continuous bladder irrigation, CVA care, epidural analgesia, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, isolation precautions and PPE, IV insulin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management and titration, orthopedic trauma, pacemaker management, PCA, PICC line management, phlebotomy, pre and post cardiac and surgical procedures, renal failure, seizure disorder management, spinal cord injury, tracheostomy care, wound care and wound vac, and use of rapid response and code teams
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
* 2 professional references required covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years, completed during the compliance process prior to start

Facility:

This short-term acute care facility operates 325 staffed beds and provides comprehensive medical services across multiple units including PCU, telemetry, and med-surgical floors. The facility utilizes Epic for charting and is supported by a robust interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, rapid response teams, and pharmacy. The organization maintains high standards for patient care and supports a float team model designed to meet staffing needs across the institution.
