RN - MedSurg/General Surgery
Job Details:
* 13-week contract assignment
* Day shift hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
* Schedule options of 3x12s or 4x12s with 4x12 preferred
* Every other weekend required with holiday rotation and call rotation
* Patient ratios of 1:6 (occasionally 1:7)
* On-call rotation required
* Facility may cancel one shift per two-week period
* Float within scope to meet facility needs as required
* Block scheduling available at manager's discretion
* Candidates able to work holidays are a priority
* Minimum 3 years of experience highly preferred; first-time travelers accepted but not preferred
* Previous charge experience preferred
* Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
* South Carolina or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
* Required certifications: BLS; ACLS preferred
* Epic charting system experience required
* Scrub color: Royal blue or white for RNs

* Care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations
* Primary patient diagnoses include general surgery cases (80% of patients): thyroidectomy, mastectomy, hiatal hernia, cholecystectomy, colon resection, nephrectomy, hysterectomy, bladder sling, penile implants, Cysto/TURBT, MVA blunt trauma, debridement/skin graft, and GI bleed
* Special procedures include rounding with surgeon, HibClens baths pre-op, facilitating patient ambulation day of surgery, and supporting positive patient experience scores
* Special equipment includes BiPAP/CPAP, wound vac, drains/tubes, remote telemetry monitoring, pressure reduction surface beds, IV pump/central line, and continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
* Required skills include: accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draw, chest tube management, colostomy/ileostomy care, CVA management, feeding tube care, heparin administration, high flow nasal cannula, insulin administration, ABG interpretation, isolation precautions/PPE, dysrhythmia management, telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and bladder scan
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
Facility:
This acute care facility is a 396-bed hospital offering comprehensive medical and surgical services. The MedSurg/General Surgery unit consists of 36 beds with a daily census of approximately 35 patients and is supported by a robust interdisciplinary team. The unit maintains a strong focus on patient experience and quality outcomes, with two nurses per station to ensure easy access to medications and supplies.
