Opportunity:

RN - Cardiac

Job Details:

* Work on a 30-bed Cardiac unit with a 6:1 patient ratio
* Unit staffing includes unit clerk on days, 2-3 PCTs day and night, Nursing Supervisor, and Hospitalists
* Scheduling requires equivalent of every other weekend (4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule)
* Floating policy includes other Med/Surg areas: general MS, Ortho, PCU, and MS surgical with oncology on a rotating basis unless skill mix is needed
* Equipment used includes Welch Allyn vitals neuron, Novameter glucose, GE Telemetry, and Rovers
* Documentation system: Meditech-HCA version
* Medications administered via WOW for all nurses and PyxisES dispensing system
* Procedures performed on unit include chest tube management, wound vac management, and EKGs
* Advanced knowledge required of Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone drips
* Documentation of telemetry application, acknowledging rhythm strips, and placing in chart each shift required
* Adherence to NO PASS ZONE policy for bed alarms, call lights, and IV alarms
* Patient experience requirements include Bedside Rounding, Hourly Rounding with 5Ps checked, and reporting to PCTs of known needs at beginning and during shifts
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH
* Cardiac knowledge preferred
* Dress code: Navy scrubs for RNs; no artificial, gel nails, or gel nail polish permitted; solid colored shirts underneath with no graphics allowed

This medical center operates a dedicated Cardiac unit on the third floor of the main building, staffed by experienced charge nurses with up to 39 years of seniority.
