RN - Cardiovascular Progressive Care

Job Details:

* Work on a 40-bed Cardiovascular Progressive Care unit (E4 - CVPC) in the E Heart Tower
* Care for primary patient population including CV surgery and vascular surgery patients (open heart surgery - CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR), thoracic lung surgery (lobectomy, thoracotomy), esophagogastrectomy, AAA (open and endovascular), fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies
* Also care for overflow medical cardiology patients with diagnoses including heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block, and more
* Patient ratio of 1:5 patients per RN
* Perform procedures including epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucommander, and cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
* Utilize Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, various lifts, and Cerner EMR
* Stepdown experience required
* Telemetry experience required
* Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, and fem-pop bypass) within a year preferred
* CVICU experience preferred
* Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
* Scrub color/attire: All navy, white tops/navy bottoms, or all white
* No on-call requirements
* Minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day or night) per 6-week schedule period
* Flexibility to work holidays required
* Float to any stepdown unit (1:5 ratios), medical/surgical unit (1:6-7 ratios), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6) as needed
* Ideal candidate is a team player who enjoys a fast-paced environment and is flexible

This facility is a large regional medical center featuring a dedicated Heart Tower with a specialized Cardiovascular Progressive Care unit. The unit supports a comprehensive range of complex cardiac and vascular surgical procedures, supported by a robust multidisciplinary team of approximately 100 staff members. The facility utilizes modern technology including Cerner EMR and advanced cardiac monitoring equipment to deliver high-quality patient care.
