Opportunity:

RN - PACU

Job Details:

* Work 3 twelve-hour shifts per week, primarily Monday through Friday on day shift with potential rotation to weekends and night shifts as needed
* Pre-op shifts start at 5:30 AM; PACU shifts start between 7:30 AM and 10:00 AM
* Call requirement of approximately 20-24 hours per month on weeknights and 20 hours per month on weekends; employees select their own call shifts based on availability
* 1-hour call response time required
* May be required to work one holiday shift and one holiday call shift per season (Summer/Winter)
* Up to 2 shift cancellations permitted per 13-week contract
* Rotate throughout Pre-op, PACU, and Phase II departments
* Nurse-to-patient ratios: Pre-op 1:3, PACU 1:2, Phase II 1:3
* Common cases include adult and pediatric general surgery, plastics, dental/ENT/maxillofacial, urology, neurosurgery, surgical oncology, ophthalmology, orthopedic/ortho trauma, joint replacements, OB/GYN, thoracic, regional acute pain/blocks/epidurals, and bariatrics
* Prior PACU experience required; level 1 trauma PACU experience preferred
* Experience with RT equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP required
* Experience recovering ICU patients in PACU required
* Must be able to read cardiac strips
* May float to other pre/post departments within the hospital
* Charting system: EPIC
* Hospital scrubs required
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), PALS

This acute care facility operates a 20-bay pre-op unit and 24 PACU/Phase II bays, supporting a high-volume surgical program that spans a broad range of specialties. The facility handles both adult and pediatric cases across multiple surgical disciplines, including trauma, oncology, and orthopedics. The unit is staffed with nursing assistants and charge nurses to support a collaborative and structured care environment, with access to comprehensive post-anesthesia care resources.
