Opportunity:
Medical Lab Scientist - ER LAB/FSED
Job Details:
* Work 10-hour night shifts from 9:00 PM to 7:30 AM on a 7 on/7 off schedule
* Every other weekend requirement
* 13-week assignment with potential to extend to 26 weeks
* No on-call requirements, with opportunities to pick up additional hours during 7 off week if desired
* Perform point of care testing as a Medical Lab Scientist
* Willing to perform clerical duties as assigned by Nursing and Lab Director in support of FSED operations
* Conduct daily maintenance, quality control, calibrations on analyzers, and patient testing including waived and non-waived tests
* Perform specimen processing including ordering tests, centrifuging specimens, preparing send outs for transport, stocking lab supplies, and routine cleaning of lab surfaces
* Work with equipment including Siemens Dimension EXL, Sysmex 1000, Roche Clineteck, Werfen Top 300, Quidel Triage, Siemens ePOC, Abbott iSTAT, Veritor FLU, Quidel SOFIA, and Aerospray stainer
* EMR system: EPIC; prior experience with EPIC preferred
* Must hold full MLS license - Associates degree not accepted
* Required certification: MLS or MLT certification through ASCP or equivalent
* Minimum 2 years of experience working in a hospital laboratory environment as an MLT or MLS required
* Must be able to work independently while communicating professionally with both lab and non-lab clinical staff
* Dress code: Pewter-colored scrubs required; lab coat will be provided
* Must adhere to standard lab safety protocols as required by CLIA and CAP
Facility:
This facility operates a freestanding emergency department (FSED) with 10 treatment rooms and a team of 8 lab technologists supporting emergency laboratory services. The facility utilizes EPIC as its electronic medical records system and maintains a fully equipped laboratory with modern analyzers to support a wide range of diagnostic testing. The lab operates with one Medical Lab Scientist per shift, requiring professionals who are self-sufficient and capable of interfacing effectively with emergency department clinical staff.
