Opportunity:

RN - PCU

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 3 shifts per week
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
* Every other weekend requirement at minimum
* May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
* No on-call or standby requirement
* Must have ICU and/or PCU-Stepdown experience with vent experience required
* First-time travelers will be accepted
* Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
* Scrub color: Royal Blue
* 2-day unit-specific orientation with a preceptor
* Charting system: Allscripts
* Common diagnoses include post-ICU, post-shock, post-stroke, pneumonia, CHF, post-cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, and more
* Required to titrate drips including Nicardipine, pressors (Levophed, etc.), Fentanyl, Precedex, Heparin, Insulin, and more
* Must be able to read and interpret telemetry appropriately and communicate changes with physician for appropriate intervention
* Centralized telemetry monitoring available 24/7
* Floating requirements include ICU, CCU, PCU/Tele, Pulmonary, and MS-Tele units (1:4-5 ratio)
* Schedule is made 4 weeks at a time based on unit needs; travelers expected to stay flexible to help fill gaps in permanent staffing
* Vacation requests must be made in advance

This acute care facility operates a 36-bed Progressive Care Unit at a Level 2 Trauma Center, providing high-quality care to patients transitioning from intensive care settings. The unit is supported by a dedicated charge nurse, patient care technicians, and centralized telemetry monitoring around the clock. Respiratory therapy staff manage all respiratory equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, ventilators, and tracheostomies, ensuring comprehensive care for complex patient populations.
