Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

* Work 3 twelve-hour shifts per week
* Schedule includes every other weekend and holidays in rotation
* Patient ratio of 1:2 to 1:3, including holding inpatient PCU/med-surg admissions
* Use i-mobile phones for care team communication and mobile computer workstations on wheels
* Document using Meditech system
* Travelers are first to float and may be sent to the emergency department or PCU to care for PCU or ICU holds
* Conduct bedside shift report for every patient with each transfer of care
* Must be able to care for up to 1-3 ICU patients and manage patients on ventilators
* Must be proficient in reading telemetry strips
* Perform and assist with procedures including post-op day 0 CABG, impellas, balloon pumps, Swan Ganz, and advanced hemodynamics
* Perform neuro procedures for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage including experience with EVDs, bolts (Codman), and Arctic Sun for induced hypothermia
* Advanced skills required: CRRT, advanced hemodynamics, and phlebotomy
* Administer breathing treatments including inhalers and nebulizers outside of the ICU
* 36 months of RN experience required with at least one year in an ICU
* Prior CVICU experience preferred
* One previous successful travel nursing assignment preferred, ideally in a facility using Meditech
* BSN preferred
* Advanced certifications preferred
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale
* TNCC certification preferred
* Required dress code: Navy uniform

The facility offers a wide array of specialized services including a burn clinic, breast care center, and robotic surgery institute. The facility has earned numerous awards and accreditations including Chest Pain Center accreditation by the American College of Cardiology and Stroke Center accreditation from The Joint Commission. The organization is committed to staff development and is willing to train travelers interested in becoming skilled Neuro ICU or Cardiovascular ICU nurses, including the opportunity to care for patients with head and neck flap procedures as part of one of only 14 such programs in the nation.
