Opportunity:
RN - NICU
Job Details:
* Work in a 42-bed Level 2 and Level 3 NICU unit located on the 3rd floor of the Central Tower
* Patient ratios: Level 3 - 2:1 and 1:1 dependent on acuity; Level 2 - 3:1
* Day and night shifts available with staffing including charge nurse coordinator, transport RN, unit secretary, and unit techs
* Weekend requirements: Day shift - 4 weekends (Saturday/Sunday); Night shift - 5 weekends (Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
* Floating may be required to Mother Baby unit managing babies only
* Scrub color: Royal Blue
* Required certifications: BLS and NRP
* Must demonstrate safe medication administration including calculation and administration using the 5 patient rights
* Must provide appropriate handling of expressed breast milk (EBM)
* Must be proficient in care of patients with NG/OG tubes and follow feeding orders from OT/ST
* Must be able to care for patients on CPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, and Nasal Cannula
* Must be proficient in care of patients with PIVs, PICCs, UAC/UVC
* Must be able to safely care for patients 23 weeks and above
* Must demonstrate understanding and use of all NICU equipment including radiant warmers, isolettes, syringe pumps, feeding pumps, vents, oscillators, JETs, CPAP, NIPPV, High Flow nasal cannula, EKG monitors, and breast milk warmers
* Must promote safe sleeping at 32-34 weeks gestation
* Must demonstrate developmentally appropriate care when handling preterm infants
* Must be proficient in lab draws and knowledgeable in escalating patient concerns
* Must be proficient in NAS scoring
* Experience with ETT, vents, JETs, cooling, and surgical patients preferred
* EMR systems used: CPN and Meditech
* Typical procedures performed on unit include intubations, UAC/UVC placement, eye exams, X-rays, ultrasounds, EEG, EKG, LPs, lab draws, PICC placement, circumcisions, and bedside surgical procedures
* Ideal candidate is a team player, open to receiving feedback, and contributes to a positive unit culture
