Opportunity:

MLS - Medical Laboratory Scientist

Job Details:

* 20-week contract assignment
* Day shift, 8-hour shifts beginning at 6:30 AM
* Typical Tuesday through Saturday schedule with potential rotation
* Weekend coverage required
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
* Minimum 1 year of experience required
* Trauma Level II experience preferred
* Compact license must be in hand at time of submission
* Required certification: ASCP-MLS
* Must be proficient in a broad range of laboratory skills including blood banking procedures, specimen collection and processing, microbiology, urinalysis, and coagulation testing
* Experience with automated instrumentation and analyzers required
* Perform ABO/Rh/Antibody Screen and identification, crossmatching, transfusion reaction workups, and direct/indirect Coombs testing
* Conduct CBC, manual differentials, reticulocyte counts, platelet counts, and sed rates
* Perform microbiology functions including culture plating, gram stains, organism identification, and sensitivity testing
* Execute PCR testing including flu, group B strep, MRSA screen, staph aureus, and other panels
* Proficient with rapid test kits, quality assurance and controls, and review and interpretation of QC
* May be required to float between nearby sister facilities
* 2 professional references required covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years
* All RTO and specific scheduling requests must be submitted upfront during the submittal process
