RN - PCU/Stepdown

Job Details:

* Weekend coverage required with schedule rotating every other weekend (Friday?Saturday for nights or Saturday?Sunday for days/evenings)
* Candidates may choose one holiday (Thanksgiving or Christmas) but cannot have both
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
* Float may be required to Telemetry or Medical-Surgical floors if overstaffed
* May be expected to float between sister facilities nearby contracted facility
* Patient ratio experience of 4?5 patients required
* At least 1 year of PCU/Stepdown experience required
* Previous charge experience preferred
* Cardiac drip titration and management is a hard stop requirement
* Epic charting system experience required
* Scrub color: Any color for RN
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* Required skills include: BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care/management, chest tube management, cardiac drip titration and management, vasoactive drip titration and management, IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, pacemaker management, PICC line management, post cardiac angiogram/cath care, pre/post cardiac surgery, sheath removal, telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and use of rapid response/code teams
* Special equipment used includes cardiac monitoring systems and cardiac drip equipment
* Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
* Common patient diagnoses include CHF, Afib with RVR, chest pain/rule out MI, heart catheterization, cardiac drips, and traditional medical-surgical patients
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
* Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission

Facility:

This facility is a short-term acute care hospital designated as both a Level II Trauma Center and a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center. With 629 total staffed beds, it operates as a teaching hospital and provides a wide range of specialized services. The PCU/Stepdown unit consists of 42 beds and is supported by a robust interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
