RN - Oncology

Job Details:

* Work in an inpatient oncology setting with a daily census of 25 patients and 8 rooms
* Staffing ratio of 1:5 on day shifts
* Serve adult and geriatric patient populations
* Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required
* Travel experience required; locals within 50-mile radius not accepted
* Epic charting experience required
* Administer IV chemotherapy including bladder installations
* Provide implanted port care, foley catheter insertions, peripheral IV insertion, and PICC line care
* Perform SQ/IM injections and blood product administration
* Operate Alaris infusion pumps, CADD infusion pumps, and lab centrifuge
* Use Pyxis medication system and Epic Beacon for documentation
* Care for patients with diagnoses including breast, bowel, bladder, brain, lung, gynecological, head and neck, prostate, pancreatic cancers, lymphomas, multiple myelomas, and chronic leukemias
* Also care for patients with chronic anemia, MDS, MS, ulcerative colitis/Crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and osteoporosis
* Monitor chemotherapy and recognize/communicate abnormal lab values
* Provide patient and family education and support
* Floating to other units and/or facilities may be required
* No block scheduling; schedule changes possible with two-weeks notice
* Required certifications: BLS, ONS/ONCC (Chemo certification)

Facility:

This facility features a dedicated oncology unit providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient cancer care. The unit is supported by an interdisciplinary team including pharmacy, social services, transportation, and unit secretaries. Provider coverage includes an intensivist/medical oncologist available daily by phone and in-house two days per week, as well as a nurse practitioner available in-house one to two days per week.
