Opportunity:

RN - Emergency Department

Job Details:

* 12-hour evening shifts with variable start times
* Weekend coverage required with 4 weekend shifts per biweekly period
* Patient ratio of 4:1 across all shifts including days, nights, and weekends
* Ability to float to other facilities within the health system required
* 2 years of emergency department experience required
* Prior travel experience within the last 12 months required
* Must have experience working at a fast-paced, inner city hospital
* BSN required
* Epic charting experience required
* Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
* Community hospital experience preferred; prior teaching hospital experience preferred
* CERNER proficiency preferred
* Required certifications: CA RN License, AHA BLS, PALS, ACLS, TNCC
* Preferred certification: CEN
* Must be proficient in: BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, chest tube insertion and management, emergency medications, interpretation of arterial blood gases, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, intubation, isolation precautions and PPE, obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG, phlebotomy, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, starting and maintaining IVs, and triage
* Treat patients across all age groups including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
* Common patient diagnoses include stroke, STEMI, cardiac and respiratory arrest, DKA, abdominal pain, and orthopedic issues
* Interdisciplinary support available including respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and unit secretary

Facility:

This is a fast-paced, inner city academic medical center and teaching hospital with a well-established emergency department. The facility operates with 16 beds and 9 rooms, seeing approximately 40 patients per day. The emergency department provides comprehensive care for a wide range of critical conditions and is supported by robust interdisciplinary teams including respiratory services, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams.
