Opportunity:

Medical Surgical / Registered Nurse

Job Details:

* Day shift position with 48-hour or 36-hour shift options available
* Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Surgical experience required
* Level I Trauma experience required
* Large hospital experience required
* Prior travel assignment experience required
* Patient ratio of 1:6 utilizing a team nursing model (team consists of 2 RNs, LPN, and Med Nurse splitting a caseload)
* 45-bed unit primarily serving surgical oncology patients with medical oncology and medical-surgical overflow
* Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
* Daily census of 30-35 patients
* Care responsibilities include wound care, drains, ostomies, Foley catheters, and PCA pump management
* Experience with central lines including PAC, PICC lines, and midlines required
* Chemotherapy administration for ONS-certified nurses only
* On-call required as needed
* Weekend shifts required as needed
* Block scheduling not available; weekend block schedule may be considered and must be discussed during interview
* If assignment includes end-of-year holidays, must be willing to work 2 of 3 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) if all three fall during the assignment, or at least 1 of 2 holidays if only 2 fall during the assignment
* RNs may be floated between like units or campuses within a 20-mile radius
* Must hold an active RN license in the state or a compact RN license compliant with NLC guidelines
* EPIC experience preferred
* Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
* Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
* Required skills: IV start, conscious sedation

This facility is a short-term acute care, Level I Trauma Center offering a high-acuity patient environment with a strong interdisciplinary support structure. The unit specializes in surgical oncology with medical oncology and medical-surgical overflow, and is supported by a full range of ancillary services including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation. The organization maintains high standards for traveler compliance and patient care quality.
