Opportunity:

PCU/Step down Float RN

Job Details:

* 3x12 night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Weekend coverage required
* Float position covering PCU, MS/Tele, and Med Surg units based on institutional needs
* Patient population includes ER boarded patients, telemetry, med surg, and PCU patients
* Nurse to patient ratio varies 1:4-6 depending on unit acuity
* Patients include adult and geriatric age groups
* May include charge nurse responsibilities on smaller units, including managing staffing needs, bed flow, and general coordination
* Charge nurse experience is required
* Minimum 3 years of experience required
* Must have experience in the US (Canadian experience alone will not qualify)
* Compact license must be in hand at submission
* Required certifications: ACLS, NIHSS
* Epic charting system experience required
* Required skills include: BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care/management, chest tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, CVA care, epidural analgesia, feeding tube care and management, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, interpretation of arterial blood gases, interpretation of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, IV insulin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management and titration, management of dysrhythmias, non-invasive airway management, pacemaker management, PCA, peripheral and PICC line management, phlebotomy, post cardiac angiogram care, post MI care, pre/post cardiac cath and surgery care, pre/post hemodialysis management, pre/post neurosurgery care, renal failure, seizure disorder management, spinal cord injury care, starting and maintaining IVs, substance withdrawal, surgical drains, telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care, TAVR, traumatic brain injury care, wound care/wound vac
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
* Must commit to working 3 of 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
* Travelers may be expected to float between nearby sister facilities; refusal to float may result in termination or forfeiture of guaranteed hours
* 2 references required covering 1 year within the last 3 years, completed during compliance process prior to start

This short-term acute care facility operates 325 staffed beds and provides a wide range of medical services across multiple units including PCU, telemetry, and med surg. The facility utilizes Epic for charting and offers robust interdisciplinary support services including rapid response teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and physical therapy. The organization maintains high standards for patient care and supports a float team model designed to meet staffing needs across the institution.
