Job Details:
* Active NJ or Compact nursing license required
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP, PALS
* Minimum 2 years of experience required
* EPIC charting experience required; Crib Notes also used
* Weekend requirement: Every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday); may be altered as needed
* Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs
* Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
* Patient ratios: 1:1?1:3; 1:4 in IMCU
* Scrubs: Navy Blue
* Must be confident floating to NBN, Pediatrics, and PICU within skillset; float depends on patient volume and acuity
* Will not attend high-risk deliveries or be assigned Level IV patients, ECMO, or fresh post-ops
* Experience required: NICU Level III; neurologic care for neonatal abstinence syndrome; care for neonates 29?34 weeks and greater than 34 weeks
* Clinical skills required: administer blood products; start and maintain IVs; medication management including anti-seizure drugs, antibiotics/antivirals, and steroids; neonatal dosage calculations; phlebotomy
* Cardiovascular monitoring with telemetry; ventilator/intubated patient management; respiratory support with HFNC; oxygen delivery systems; manage respiratory distress
* Breastfeeding support; colostomy/ileostomy care; enteral feedings; tube placement; glucose monitoring; insulin administration; hyperbilirubinemia; phototherapy
* Developmental care; patient and family teaching; infection control; isolation precautions; sepsis workup
* Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, social services, pharmacy, and unit secretary
Facility:
This facility is a 665-bed quaternary care teaching hospital and home to a children's hospital featuring a Level IV NICU with 46 intensive care and 23 intermediate care bassinets. The unit provides the highest level of neonatal care, including ECMO therapy, advanced ventilation, nitric oxide treatment, and rapid genome sequencing, and serves as a Regional Perinatal Center supporting more than 15 hospitals. Staffed by 12 board-certified neonatologists and specialized teams available 24/7, the NICU is affiliated with a major medical school and participates in the Vermont Oxford Network, consistently achieving survival rates above national benchmarks.
