Opportunity:
RN - CVICU
Job Details:
* Every other weekend schedule required with holiday coverage (must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs)
* Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2+ for days, nights, and weekends
* Navy blue scrubs required
* Must float within skillset to all ICUs, PACU ICU holds, ED ICU holds, and Cardiac IMC units without exception
* 2 years of recent CVICU experience required; SICU experience may be considered if initial training was completed in a CVICU
* Experience with fresh post-op cardiac cases required, including CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR
* Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT using PrisMax required
* EPIC charting system experience required
* Active NJ or Compact nursing license required at time of submission
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* IV therapy skills required: arterial lines, blood product administration, central/PICC line management, starting IVs, continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade and sedation, emergency medications, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, titrating cardiac/vasoactive drips, and IV insulin protocols
* Respiratory and thoracic skills required: chest tube insertion/removal, BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patient care, HFNC, ABGs, suctioning (ETT, NT), and ventilator management
* Cardiovascular skills required: CABG, cardiac surgery, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, post-op open heart recovery, temporary pacers, FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and 12-lead EKG
* Renal and neurological skills required: chronic/acute renal failure, CVVHD/CRRT, CVA/acute stroke management, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, and lumbar drains
* General skills required: multisystem organ dysfunction/failure management, infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, and phlebotomy
* Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
* Patients served include adults and geriatrics
* Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
Facility:
This facility is a 628-bed academic Level I Trauma Center affiliated with a major university. The CVICU cares for patients requiring cardiac surgery, heart transplantation, ventricular assist devices, TAVR, and ECMO. The Heart, Vascular and Thoracic program was the first in New Jersey to achieve Comprehensive Cardiac Center accreditation through The Joint Commission and American Heart Association, providing CABG, valve, and aortic surgery. The facility is part of the state's largest integrated healthcare system.
