Job Details:

* Work 12-hour shifts, nights from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM with day/night rotation options available based on unit need
* Every other weekend or every 3rd weekend requirement
* 2 holidays required per year
* First to float to Newborn Nursery and Pediatrics as assigned
* 48-hour shifts available
* Level III NICU with 22 beds in an open bed concept, fishbowl setup with RN station centrally located
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3, up to 1:4 for feeder growers and stable patients
* Common diagnoses include RDS, SGA, prematurity, hypoglycemia, hyperbilirubinemia, and IUGR
* Care for patients as young as 23 weeks gestation; no surgical or G-tube placements performed on unit
* Required to titrate drips including antibiotics, multivitamin, iron, surfactant, TPN, and epinephrine
* NICU RNs including charge nurses will attend deliveries under 36 weeks to assist with APGAR scoring
* Work with RT equipment including bubble CPAP and ventilators
* Central line management required
* Charge nurse present on each shift and takes assignments
* Minimum 2 years of NICU Level III-IV experience preferred
* Ability to titrate drips required
* 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
* Charting system: EPIC
* Hospital-provided scrubs
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
* BSN not required
* Valid state license required for submission

This acute care facility operates a Level III NICU providing specialized care for premature and critically ill newborns. The unit features a modern open-bed concept design with a centralized nursing station, fostering a collaborative and family-centered care environment. The facility is staffed with highly regarded neonatologists during daytime hours and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners providing overnight coverage, ensuring around-the-clock specialized support for patients and nursing staff.
