Job Details:
* 12-hour evening and night shifts with the possibility to work a day shift if needed
* Available shift times include: 5:00 AM?5:00 PM, 7:00 AM?7:00 PM, 8:00 AM?8:00 PM, 9:00 AM?9:00 PM, 10:00 AM?10:00 PM, 11:00 AM?11:00 PM, 3:00 PM?3:00 AM, 5:00 PM?5:00 AM, and 7:00 PM?7:00 AM
* Every other weekend required
* Every other holiday required
* No on-call requirement; occasional standby may occur if census is low prior to shift start
* Work in a 38-bed combined Emergency and Urgent Care unit with 5 trauma bays and resuscitation rooms
* Adult and Pediatric Level 2 Trauma Center, STEMI receiving and Stroke Center
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 in the ER and 1:6 in Urgent Care
* Expected to triage patients arriving by ambulance and walk-in patients
* ER holds are intermixed within the department; no separate holding area
* 4 dedicated psych rooms within the department; no separate psych/seclusion area
* Common diagnoses include chest pain, abdominal pain, sepsis, syncope, elevated heart rate, headache, and suicidal ideation
* Common drips include heparin, nitroglycerin, diltiazem, amiodarone, nicardipine, and norepinephrine
* RNs are responsible for drawing labs; phlebotomy handles blood cultures unless unable to arrive within 20 minutes
* RNs expected to monitor patient rhythms using GE monitors throughout the department
* RT is available 24/7 in-house and assists with ABGs, breathing treatments, intubations, and critically ill respiratory patients
* X-ray and CT are available within the department
* Floating may occur only to serve as a patient sitter or helping hands; no requirement to take a patient team on another unit
* Scrubs must be any solid color, clean and professional
* Minimum 2 years of ER experience preferred; Level 1 or 2 trauma experience ideal
* Pediatric experience required; Cerner experience preferred
* Charting system: Cerner
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS, PALS (AHA), TNCC (ENPC encouraged but not required)
* BSN not required
* All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
Facility:
This facility is a Level 2 Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center operating a combined 38-bed Emergency and Urgent Care department with 5 trauma bays and resuscitation rooms. The department is a designated STEMI receiving and Stroke Center, treating between 140 and 180 patients per day. The facility offers robust support services including in-house respiratory therapy available 24/7, on-site X-ray and CT, a dedicated transport team, security on-site around the clock, and a house supervisor available 24/7 to support staff and patient care.
