Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

* Work 3 x 12-hour shifts per week
* Scheduled every other weekend and holidays in rotation
* Patient ratio of 1:2 to 1:3, including holding inpatient PCU/med-surg admissions
* First to float - may be sent to the emergency department or PCU to care for PCU or ICU holds
* Bedside shift report required for every patient with each transfer of care
* Care for up to 1-3 ICU patients including those on ventilators
* Proficiency in reading telemetry strips required
* Administer respiratory treatments including inhalers and nebulizers outside of the ICU
* Perform or assist with advanced procedures including post-op day 0 CABG, impellas, balloon pumps, Swan Ganz, and advanced hemodynamics
* Experience with neuro procedures for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, EVDs, bolts (Codman), and Arctic Sun induced hypothermia preferred
* Advanced skills required: CRRT, advanced hemodynamics, and phlebotomy
* Prior CVICU experience preferred
* 36 months RN experience required with at least 1 year in an ICU
* One previous successful travel nursing assignment preferred, ideally in a facility using Meditech
* BSN preferred
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale
* Advanced certifications preferred, TNCC preferred
* Navy uniform required
* Documentation system: Meditech
* Equipment used: i-mobile phones for each care team member, mobile computer workstation on wheels

This 313-bed facility is a well-known regional medical center featuring a 24-hour emergency room and Level II Trauma Center. The facility offers a wide array of specialized services and has earned multiple awards and accreditations, including a Chest Pain Center accreditation by the American College of Cardiology and a Stroke Center accreditation from The Joint Commission. The ICU team is willing to train travelers with an interest in becoming skilled Neuro ICU or Cardiovascular ICU nurses, including the ability to care for patients with head and neck flap procedures as part of one of only 14 such programs in the nation.
