Surgical Technician

Job Details:

* Weekend shift schedule working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
* 36 weekly guaranteed hours
* No on-call requirements
* 2 years of experience required in OR and Trauma
* Prior travel experience required
* Current BLS certification by American Heart Association standards required
* No licensure required
* Serve a patient population including adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
* Supply the operating room with proper equipment and instrumentation needed for specific surgeries
* Maintain sterility of the surgical field and anticipate the needs of surgeons during procedures
* Pass instruments in a timely fashion and perform duties such as sponge or suction, hold retractors, apply electrocautery, perform irrigation, cut suture material, connect drains, and apply dressings
* Care for instrumentation and equipment following procedures and prepare for subsequent cases
* Ensure equipment is working properly before surgical procedures and report any malfunctions
* May be required to float to the needs of the organization up to competency level
* May be required to work major holidays and pick up one additional shift during the schedule period
* Schedule may vary based on department needs and can include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts

Facility:

This facility is an extremely busy and fast-paced Level II Trauma Center serving a 500-mile radius with an 800-bed inpatient hospital and 80 emergency room beds. The facility treats over 80,000 emergency and trauma patients per year and is home to the region's only children's hospital, a leading robotic surgery institute, and comprehensive heart and cancer services. The volume and pace of this environment are comparable to that of a Level I Trauma Center, and the facility features state-of-the-art technologies including the Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System, PET/CT scanner, Biplane Angiography, and 3T MRI technologies.
