Opportunity:
Surgical Technician
Job Details:
* Work weekdays, 4 days a week with a combination of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts
* 40 guaranteed hours per week
* No on-call requirements
* 2 years of experience required in OR and Trauma
* Prior travel experience required
* Current BLS certification by American Heart Association standards required
* No licensure required
* Provide patient care of a technical nature in the operating room
* Supply the operating room with proper equipment and instrumentation needed for specific surgeries
* Maintain sterility of the surgical field and anticipate the needs of surgeons by passing instruments in a timely fashion
* Perform duties including sponge or suction, holding retractors, applying electrocautery, irrigation to operative site, cutting suture material, connecting drains, and applying wound dressings
* Care for instrumentation and equipment following procedures and prepare for subsequent cases
* Assist with room turnover to optimize customer service for surgeons, patients, anesthesiologists, and co-workers
* Serve a patient population including adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
* Ensure equipment is functioning properly before surgical procedures and report any broken or malfunctioning equipment
* May be required to float to the needs of the organization up to competency level
* May be required to work major holidays and pick up one additional shift during schedule period
* Schedule varies based on department needs and can include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
Facility:
This facility is an extremely busy and fast-paced healthcare environment serving a 500-mile radius. It operates as a Level II Trauma Center with stroke accreditation, featuring 800 inpatient beds and 80 emergency room beds, with a volume and pace comparable to a Level I trauma center. The facility offers a comprehensive range of leading-edge services including advanced cardiac care, neurosciences, robotic surgery, and cancer services, and is home to the region's only children's hospital. The facility has pioneered numerous medical advancements in the region, including the first accredited heart failure center, first Institute for Neurosciences, and first Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System in northern Nevada.
