RN - Telemetry / Step-Down
Job Details:
* 12-hour variable shifts
* 4 weekend shifts per scheduling period (4 weeks)
* Patient ratio of 1:3 on days, nights, and weekends
* Must be able to float to other UCSF campuses and facilities
* Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required
* Travel experience required
* Teaching hospital experience required
* CIWA and EKG Course/Cardiac Rhythm Recognition experience required
* Tracheostomy care expertise required
* BSN required
* Active California RN license required
* Epic charting system experience required
* Required certifications: AHA BLS
* Preferred certifications: ACLS, PCCN
* Skills required include: accessing/managing ports, arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care/management, chest tubes, epidural analgesia, feeding tube care and management, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), interpretation of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, cardiac drip management, tracheostomy care/management, peritoneal dialysis, wound care/wound vac, and more
* Care for adult and geriatric patients with complex, multi-comorbidity histories including end stage renal/liver disease, AMS, alcohol use disorder, sepsis, pneumonia, sickle cell, respiratory failure, new onset afib, and infectious diseases
* Fast-paced unit with frequent ICU transfers, rapid response team involvement, and Q1-Q2 hour interventions
* Respiratory-heavy unit with frequent trach suctioning, HFNC use, and frequent patient movement off unit for procedures and imaging
* Special equipment includes standard lift equipment, ceiling lifts, Philips bedside monitors, high flow nasal cannula, and Tele/CPO
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
* All requested time off must be submitted at time of offer; no additional requests accepted mid-contract and no RTO within the first two weeks of start

This facility is a well-regarded academic medical center known for its high-acuity patient population and complex medical cases. The step-down unit operates with a daily census of 30 beds and provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams. The facility maintains a fast-paced environment with a strong emphasis on collaborative, team-based patient care for adults and geriatric patients with complex medical and social histories.
