Opportunity:

RN - NICU/PICU

Job Details:

* Minimum 2 years of NICU RN experience required with PICU experience also required
* Majority of time will be spent in the NICU with availability to staff in the PICU when census needs allow
* 2 out of 4 weekend shifts required per contract
* Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 for intubated patients and 2:1 for stable non-intubated patients
* Must be able to attend high-risk deliveries
* NICU IV experience required
* Experience with EPIC charting system required
* Trauma Level I experience required
* Required certifications: NRP, BLS, PALS
* Active Michigan (MI) license required - compact licenses not accepted
* Two manager or supervisor references required - charge nurse references not accepted
* Preferred: 2 years in a combination of PICU, PCTU, NICU, and moderate care
* Required skills include: administration of blood and blood products, arterial line management, bubble CPAP, central line blood draw, central line/implanted line care, conscious sedation, ECMO, high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, IV vasopressors, management of chest tubes, neonatal dosage calculations, therapeutic hypothermia, tracheostomy care/management, UAC/UVC management, ventilator management, and additional neonatal and pediatric critical care competencies

Facility:

This facility houses a 59-bed Level IV neonatal center that serves as one of the state's leading referral centers for premature newborns and infants with complex medical, surgical, and anomalous conditions. The unit offers specialized care including ECMO, high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, and hypothermic neuroprotection, with approximately 80% inborn admissions and 20% transported from the referral region. The facility also features a 30-bed multi-acuity pediatric intensive care unit supporting critically ill to short-stay observation patients, utilizing state-of-the-art technology including ECMO, nitric oxide, high frequency ventilation, and CRRT. Both units practice a family-centered approach to care and are supported by an interdisciplinary team including respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams.
