Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

* Rapid response assignment for 6 weeks with 48 hours required
* Work three 12-hour shifts per week including every other weekend
* 28-bed mixed ICU unit with patient ratios of 1:2 to 1:3, including holding inpatient PCU/med-surg admissions
* Travelers are first to float and may be sent to the emergency department or PCU to care for PCU or ICU holds
* Bedside shift report is required for every patient with each transfer of care
* Must be able to care for up to 1-3 ICU patients and be comfortable managing patients on a ventilator
* Must be proficient in reading telemetry strips
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale
* 36 months of RN experience required with at least one year in an ICU
* One previous successful travel nursing assignment preferred, ideally in a facility using Meditech
* Prior CVICU experience preferred
* BSN preferred; advanced certifications preferred; TNCC certification preferred
* Advanced skills needed: CRRT, advanced hemodynamics, phlebotomy, and administration of breathing treatments including inhalers and nebulizers outside of the ICU
* Procedures performed on unit include: post-op day 0 CABG, impellas, balloon pumps, Swan Ganz, advanced hemodynamics, neuro procedures for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, EVDs, bolts (Codman), and Arctic Sun experience with induced hypothermia
* Documentation system: Meditech
* Equipment includes: i-mobile phones for each care team member and mobile computer workstations on wheels
* Required uniform: Navy

This medical center features a 28-bed mixed ICU equipped with advanced technology and modern equipment to support a wide range of complex patient care needs. The facility is one of only 14 programs in the nation offering specialized training in Neuro ICU and Cardiovascular ICU nursing, as well as the opportunity to care for patients with head and neck flap procedures.
