Opportunity:

RN - PICU

Job Details:

* Rotating day and night shifts available: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* 2 full weekends required per month (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are all considered weekend shifts)
* Holiday rotation required - travelers will be worked into permanent staff holiday schedule
* No on-call requirement
* 20-bed PICU unit with an average daily census of approximately 15 patients
* ICU nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1-2; stepdown ratio of 1:3
* Nurse aides available on unit to assist with feedings, finger stick blood sugar checks, and equipment needs
* Pediatrician, resident, and APP in-house 24/7 with call room on unit
* Common diagnoses include congenital heart conditions, DKA, respiratory conditions, neurosurgery, tracheostomies, ventilator management, and G-tube care
* May be required to take adult patients
* Must be comfortable floating within the children's department including L&D, NICU, and acute pediatrics at normal ratios
* Required to titrate drips including sedation protocols (Fentanyl, Versed, Precedex) and vasoactive drugs per physician orders
* Telemetry monitored off unit with central monitors at ICU and stepdown desk
* Respiratory therapy manages ventilators, CPAP, and BiPAP equipment
* Self-scheduling available with block scheduling possible based on unit needs
* Charting system: EPIC
* Scrub color: Dark gray (pewter)
* Orientation includes EPIC training, NSO, competency and equipment review with clinical preceptor, and 3 shifts in PICU with a mentor
* 2 years of PICU experience required
* Required certifications: BLS, PALS
* BSN not required
* Valid state license required prior to submission
