Opportunity:

RN - Psychiatric

Job Details:

* 48 hours guaranteed per week
* Three 12-hour shifts required each day, seven days a week including weekends
* Days off are not guaranteed unless specified in contract
* No on-call requirements
* Work across multiple units including ADOL (adolescent patients ages 12-18), Serenity (lower acuity adult unit), ITU (higher acuity adult unit for patients with thought disorder diagnoses), SRAD (patients living a senior lifestyle), and VINE (lower acuity adult unit)
* Patient ratios: nurses 8:1, mental health technicians 12:1
* Floating policy based on greatest unit need
* Document using Meditech system
* Assess patients' mental health status including recognizing signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral problems
* Develop individualized care plans based on patient needs including setting goals, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes
* Administer psychiatric medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions, with knowledge of psychotropic medications required
* Provide crisis intervention including de-escalation techniques and appropriate medication management for patients experiencing suicidal ideation or aggression
* Utilize therapeutic communication skills including active listening and empathy to build trust and rapport with patients
* Monitor patients for physical and psychological symptoms including vital signs, mental status changes, and medication effects
* Follow HCA ICARE values (Integrity, Compassion, Always, Respect) and AIDET communication behaviors
* Required certifications: BLS and active Blue Card CPI
* Dress code: Nurses wear blue; MHTs wear green or black
