Opportunity:

RN - Psychiatric

Job Details:

* 48 hours guaranteed per week
* 12-hour shifts required with coverage needed seven days a week including weekends
* Days off are not guaranteed unless specified in the contract
* Nurses wear blue scrubs; MHTs wear green or black
* Patient ratio is 8:1 for nurses
* 10-bed unit on Adult Psychiatric Unit 2
* Documentation system: Meditech
* Floating policy: utilized where the greatest need is
* No on-call requirements
* Assess patients' mental health status including recognizing signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral problems
* Take thorough patient histories, observe behavior, and use diagnostic tools
* Develop individualized care plans based on the needs of patients with mental health and behavioral issues
* Administer psychiatric medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions; knowledge of psychotropic medications required
* Provide crisis intervention and immediate short-term support to patients in crisis including suicidal ideation and aggression
* Utilize de-escalation techniques and appropriate medication management
* Build trust and rapport with patients through therapeutic communication, active listening, and empathy
* Monitor patients for physical and psychological symptoms including vital signs, mental status changes, and medication effects
* Required certifications: BLS and active Blue Card CPI (required to submit)
