Opportunity:

MLT/MT - Laboratory Technologist

Job Details:

* Night shift position with required weekend rotation
* Perform laboratory tests and accurately report results to physicians for use in diagnosis, treatment, and/or monitoring of diseases
* Perform tasks and complex tests across all areas of the laboratory including hematology, immunohematology, immunology, bacteriology, microscopy, routine chemistry, and therapeutic drug monitoring
* Perform phlebotomies including arterial punctures, capillary punctures, and venipunctures applying age-specific criteria as appropriate
* Process specimens utilizing established protocols and technical knowledge
* Calibrate, standardize, and maintain instruments following established procedures
* Perform quality control, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting protocols to ensure proper functioning of instruments and reagents
* Prepare and maintain reagent supplies necessary to perform tests
* Validate and report test results accurately and in a timely manner
* Assist in the maintenance and development of laboratory policy and procedural manuals
* Assist with orientation and teaching of students and new employees
* Follow established safety practices including biohazard protocols, exposure control plans, infection control, and universal precautions
* Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Technology or related area of specialty required
* National certification or registry eligibility as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) through AMT or ASCP required
* Knowledge of principles, methods, materials, equipment, and techniques of medical technology required
* Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds independently
* Must have visual acuity correctable to 20/20 and color vision
* Must be able to function in limited space and with frequent interruptions
