Opportunity:

RN - Medical Surgical / Telemetry / Step-Down

Job Details:

* Work on a 40-bed Clinical Decision/Direct Admit Unit focused on ED decompression and enhanced throughput
* Patient ratios of 1:5 for Step-Down and 1:6 for MedSurg, or 1:5 if combined, both day and night
* Every other weekend schedule required, no on-call, with holiday assistance expected
* Expected to float to other units within skill set
* Scrub color requirement: Navy Blue/White or a combination of the two colors; no t-shirts; appropriate navy or white jacket/sweater if needed
* Utilize Baxter IV pumps for patient care
* Document using Cerner electronic health record system
* Minimum 2 years of recent MedSurg, Telemetry (remote), and Step-Down (PCU) experience preferred
* Responsibilities include completing Admission Assessments, Medication Reconciliation, and initiating acute care orders for patients admitted from the ED
* Care for patients with a wide variety of diagnoses requiring a well-rounded clinical background
* Charge Nurse experience or willingness to consider charge nurse role is appreciated
* Unit staffing includes a free charge nurse goal and typically 1-2 CNAs based on volume for both day and night shifts
* Minimal bedside procedures performed on unit
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
* Additional opportunities available in the CMU Telemetry Unit and as ED Transporters
