Opportunity:

RN - Medical Surgical Cardiac ICU

Job Details:

* 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
* Every other weekend requirement
* Holiday shifts as needed
* 16-bed Medical Surgical Cardiac ICU unit
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 with occasional 1:1 for TPA, balloon pump, and craniotomy recovery
* Work with a culturally diverse patient population ranging from young adults to geriatrics
* Common diagnoses include sepsis, STEMI, stroke, neurosurgery, renal failure, respiratory failure, COPD, cancer, and DKA
* Required to titrate drips including sedation, paralytics, pressors, antihypertensives, heparin, and insulin
* Work with equipment including Gaymar Hypothermia, Arrow Balloon Pump, Camino Neuro monitoring, CRRT, Impella, EVDs, and lumbar drains
* Required to read and interpret telemetry/monitor strips independently
* Respiratory equipment ranges from nasal cannula to ventilator
* Charge nurse present on each shift with their own patient assignment
* Nurse aides and patient care techs available at a 1:10 ratio
* Floating may be required primarily to PCU and other hospital areas based on abilities
* Unit schedulers will manage scheduling
* 2 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation provided
* Charting system: EPIC
* Scrub color: Navy Blue
* Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
* Fast-paced unit with eICU remote monitoring system
* Unit focuses on bedside shift report and intentional hourly rounding
* Must be highly motivated and able to critically think through complex situations
* Must be open to learning, asking questions, and seeking out resources
