Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown/PCU

Job Details:

* 12-hour night shifts with weekends as scheduled
* Every other weekend requirement
* May be included in holiday rotation
* No on-call or standby requirement
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6 depending on acuity
* Must have a minimum of 2 years of Stepdown/PCU experience
* Must be comfortable with cardiac monitoring and cardiac drips
* Required to titrate drips including cardizem, amio, nitro, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, and angiomax
* Common patient diagnoses include cardiac patients, post pneumonia, post cath lab, seizures, ETOH/CIWA protocols, and pacemakers
* Charge nurse present on each shift; day shift charge does not take a patient assignment unless necessary, night shift charge takes a lighter assignment
* Nurse aides and patient care techs available on unit for ADLs, vitals, bathing, toileting, feeding, repositioning, answering call lights, and blood sugars
* Respiratory therapy available 24/7 and assigned to unit; nurses expected to troubleshoot respiratory equipment including BiPAP, airvo, and trachs
* Monitor techs available 24/7; nurses expected to read and interpret telemetry, print strips, perform measurements, and identify rhythms
* Travelers may be floated to any inpatient unit and are first to float
* Charting system: Cerner
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
* Scrub color: Navy Blue
* Orientation includes 2 days of general orientation and 1 day with a preceptor
* Must reside outside of a 50-mile radius; copy of unexpired driver's license required at submission
* Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission

The facility offers 24/7 support including respiratory therapy assigned directly to the unit, telemetry monitoring technicians, and nocturnist coverage available for the entire hospital overnight.
