Opportunity:
RN - Progressive Care Unit
Job Details:
* Work in a 29-bed Progressive Care Unit caring for medical, cardiac, and surgical complex patients
* Patient ratio of 4:1
* Day shift includes unit secretary and 2-3 PCTs depending on census; night shift includes 2-3 PCTs depending on census
* 3 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
* Self-scheduling available within reason to allow balanced staffing; may request days off prior to schedule closing
* Schedule finalized 2 weeks in advance; block scheduling available for night shift
* Travel RNs float first, rotating by oldest float date
* Perform Q6H head-to-toe assessments with full documentation
* Manage drips including Dopamine, Dobutrex, Nitro, Heparin, Cardizem, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, Cardene, Labetalol, Insulin, and Precedex titration
* Heavy cardiac patient population including CV surgery patients transitioning from ICU
* Care for patients with conditions including sepsis, stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, DKA, CVA, GI bleed, pneumonia, and post-operative cardiac and surgical patients
* Advanced skills required: IV insertion, chest tube management, DHT insertion/management, tracheostomy experience, CVC management, EKG, Foley management, and early patient mobility
* Procedures performed on unit: Foley placement, IV insertion, wound vac management, DKA management, EKGs, DHT/NG placement, patient ambulation, and ADLs
* Equipment used: Welch Allyn dynamaps, Phillips telemetry, Phillips MP2, Pyxis, Alaris pumps, Hill-Rom beds, iMobile devices, and MobiLab
* Documentation system: Meditech
* Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
* Cardiac/telemetry experience and PCU and/or critical care experience required
* Required uniform: Navy scrubs
