Job Details:
* Must have prior cardiovascular critical care experience
* Stepdown experience required
* Telemetry experience required
* Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience preferred (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, and fem-pop bypass within the last year)
* CVICU experience preferred
* Care for primary patient population including CV surgery and vascular surgery patients (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR, thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA, fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomies)
* Care for overflow medical cardiology patients with diagnoses of heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block, and more
* Patient ratio of 1:5 per RN
* Perform epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucommander, and cardiac drip management
* Cardiac drips include phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine
* Utilize Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lifts
* Document using Cerner EMR
* May float to any stepdown unit (1:5 ratios), medical-surgical unit (1:6-7 ratios), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6)
* Scrub color requirements: all navy, white tops/navy bottoms, or all white
* No on-call responsibilities
* Minimum 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day/night) per 6-week schedule period
* Must be flexible to work holidays
* Required certifications: ACLS and BLS

This is an 815-bed acute care facility serving as the regional referral center for tertiary and quaternary care in western North Carolina. The facility is the only Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, and children's hospital in the region. Specialties offered include cardiovascular, orthopedics, neurosciences, oncology, pediatrics, women's services, and behavioral health, with the only open heart and interventional cardiology services in the region. The facility has been recognized among the nation's best hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, Truven Health Analytics, and Healthgrades. A recently opened state-of-the-art patient tower spans over 630,000 square feet and includes a new Emergency Department, interventional procedural rooms, operating rooms, and 220 private patient rooms.
